History:
After her parents discovered Nia's gift when she was eight, they used it to their own advantage, forcing her to take form after form at a magic show-slash-circus. She was given little and treated as an animal by her own family, even though they grew wealthy off her talents.
During a performance, when the girl was 14, Nia's father mysteriously fell ill and fainted, dying on the spot. Her mother followed a few moments later, and the cause of death was never confirmed, though it was suspected it was some rare disease accumulated from the collections of animals the adult kept in the back.
Nia roamed the streets for a few years, preferring to steal to survive by copying the form of nearby animals and using their cloned bodies to sneak into places and escape without being noticed.
Two years later, Nia herd of a school sanctuary being built for people with unique talents. She quickly began saving up money for passage to the academy, knowing that it would be better than life on the streets, and soon arrived a year later.
